A total of 89 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Financial Services of China, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $23,649.6 million. In the LTM period, January 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $7,417.7 million, resulting in an average deal value of $741.8 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 11 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $23.1 million during that month.
Of the 89 deals, the deal secured between Zhongyuan Bank Co Ltd and Bank of Jiaozuo China Travel Services; Bank Of Luoyang Co Ltd; Bank of Pingdingshan Co Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the China Financial Services sector, which was valued at $4,496.6 million and was completed on January 26, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Amer International Group Co Ltd and Huishang Bank Corp Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between AIA Company Limited and China Post Life Insurance Company Ltd. The Amer International Group Co Ltd-Huishang Bank Corp Ltd deal and the AIA Company Limited-China Post Life Insurance Company Ltd deal were valued at $2,500.0 million and $1,860.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Central Huijin Investment Ltd.; Hunan Chasing Financial Holding Group-Huarong Xiangjiang Bank Corp. Ltd. valued at $1,784.4 million, whereas the deal between China Reform Capital Corporation-Huarong Securities Co Ltd valued at $1,728.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $12,369.5 million and accounted for nearly 52.30% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
