In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $25,041.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,926.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of July 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 31 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $122.7 million during that month.
Of the 238 deals, the deal secured between DraftKings Inc and Entain PLC, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Financial Services sector, which was valued at $21,551.4 million and was completed on September 21, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Corporation Service Co and Intertrust N.V., while the third-largest deal was between Barclays Bank UK PLC and Kensington Mortgages Company Ltd.. The Corporation Service Co-Intertrust N.V. deal and the Barclays Bank UK PLC-Kensington Mortgages Company Ltd. deal were valued at $2,900.6 million and $2,815.4 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between La Banque Postale-CNP Assurances SA valued at $2,807.9 million, whereas the deal between BBVA-Garanti BBVA valued at $2,575.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $32,650.3 million and accounted for nearly 33.25% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 20.38% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 1.83% of the total deal size on a global scale.
