Mondelez International Inc (Mondelez) manufactures and markets food products and beverages. The company's product portfolio comprises snacks, including cookies, crackers, salted snacks, chocolate, gum and candy, cheese and grocery products, and powdered beverages. It markets products under the Barni, belVita, Chips Ahoy, Club Social, Enjoy Life Foods, Cadbury Dairy Milk, 5 Star, Clorets, Halls, Maynards Bassetts, Sour Patch Kids, Stride, Trident, Philadelphia, Bournvita, and Tang brand names.

Total GHG emissions of Mondelez in 2021 were 25.44 million tonnes of CO2 equivalents (MtCO2eq), an increase of 3.4% from 2020. The FMCG company aims at 10% end-to-end CO2eq emissions reduction by 2025 in comparison to the 2018 level.

GHG emissions are generally classified into Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Scope 1 includes direct GHG emissions from the combustion of fuels in Mondelez’s owned and operated facilities and mobile sources and fugitive emissions. Scope 2 encompasses indirect GHG emissions associated with purchased electricity, heat, and steam in Mondelez-owned and operated facilities. Scope 3 involves indirect GHG emissions in Mondelez’s value chain, upstream and downstream activities, such as consumer use of sold products, purchased goods and services, business travel, etc.

Scope 3 emissions form the major portion of Mondelez’s total GHG emissions, accounting for around 94.4% (24.01 MtCO2eq) of total GHG emissions in 2021. Mondelez’s Scope 1 emissions have decreased by about 1.7% to 0.84 MtCO2eq, and Scope 2 emissions decreased by around 12.6% to 0.59 MtCO2eq in 2021.
