The number of active job postings in the Government and Non-Profit Organisations sector of Canada decreased by 0.7% MoM, and decreased by 31.19% since October 2023, reaching 3,406 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 1,427 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing a decrease of 34.96% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 1,451 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 59.84% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 44.08% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 33.96%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 17.62%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 11.72% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 12.91%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 2,261, number of jobs closed stood at 2,558 and number of active jobs stood at 4,158.
