On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 15 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $1,209.2 million during that month.
Of the 135 deals, the deal secured between CSL Ltd and Vifor Pharma Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Healthcare sector, which was valued at $12,300.0 million and was completed on December 14, 2021. The second-largest deal was between La Banque Postale and CNP Assurances SA, while the third-largest deal was between Coloplast A/S and Atos Medical AB. The La Banque Postale-CNP Assurances SA deal and the Coloplast A/S-Atos Medical AB deal were valued at $2,807.9 million and $2,492.6 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Grifols SA-Biotest AG; Tiancheng (Germany) Pharmaceutical Holdings AG valued at $2,159.0 million, whereas the deal between Perrigo Co Plc-Laboratoire HRA Pharma SAS valued at $1,892.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $21,651.9 million and accounted for nearly 45.18% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 13.45% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 2.46% of the total deal size on a global scale.
