A total of 295 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Healthcare of the North America region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $218,131.1 million. In the LTM period, December 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $54,471.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $2,593.9 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 35 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $629.2 million during that month.

The second-largest deal was between Baxter International Inc and Hill-Rom Holdings Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Pfizer Inc and Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding Company Ltd. The Baxter International Inc-Hill-Rom Holdings Inc deal and the Pfizer Inc-Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding Company Ltd deal were valued at $12,500.0 million and $12,210.5 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Merck & Co Inc-Acceleron Pharma Inc valued at $11,500.0 million, whereas the deal between Danaher Corp-Aldevron LLC valued at $9,600.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $75,410.5 million and accounted for nearly 34.57% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The North America region accounted for 61.24% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 4.65% of the total deal size on a global scale.
