Asia-Pacific: Five largest Mergers & Acquisitions deals by value in the Industrial Goods & Machinery sector (LTM June 2022)

  • A total of 291 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Industrial Goods & Machinery of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $29,956.8 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $13,628.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $413.0 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 41 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $16.8 million during that month.

  • Of the 291 deals, the deal secured between APA Group and AusNet Services Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Industrial Goods & Machinery sector, which was valued at $11,080.9 million and was completed on September 20, 2021. The second-largest deal was between DN Automotive Corp and Doosan Machine Tools Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Dazheng Group (Hong Kong) Investment Holdings Company Limited; Recco Control Technology Pte Ltd and Hollysys Automation Technologies Ltd. The DN Automotive Corp-Doosan Machine Tools Co Ltd deal and the Dazheng Group (Hong Kong) Investment Holdings Company Limited; Recco Control Technology Pte Ltd-Hollysys Automation Technologies Ltd deal were valued at $2,100.0 million and $1,549.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between HOCHTIEF Australia Holdings Limited-CIMIC Group Ltd valued at $1,052.6 million, whereas the deal between Sanyou Lianzhong Group Co Ltd-Qingxian Zeming Langxi Electronic Devices Co., Ltd. valued at $1,031.1 million was the fifth-largest deal.

  • Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $16,813.7 million and accounted for nearly 56.13% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 26.00% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 2.90% of the total deal size on a global scale.
