In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $9,607.7 million, resulting in an average deal value of $640.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of May 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 16 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $323.4 million during that month.
Of the 142 deals, the deal secured between Siemens Energy AG and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Industrial Goods & Machinery sector, which was valued at $4,263.3 million and was completed on May 21, 2022. The second-largest deal was between APi Group Corp and Chubb Fire & Security Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Spectris Plc and Oxford Instruments Plc. The APi Group Corp-Chubb Fire & Security Ltd deal and the Spectris Plc-Oxford Instruments Plc deal were valued at $3,100.0 million and $2,412.5 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Opal Spanish Holdings SA-Zardoya Otis SA valued at $2,341.1 million, whereas the deal between Vertiv Holdings Co-E+I Engineering Ltd; Powerbar Gulf LLC valued at $2,000.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $14,116.9 million and accounted for nearly 45.82% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 26.74% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 3.07% of the total deal size on a global scale.
