In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $52,773.0 million, resulting in an average deal value of $13,193.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of August 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 9 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $3,241.1 million during that month.
Of the 61 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific driven by Digitalization, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Dye & Durham Corporation and Link Administration Holdings Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Amer International Group Co Ltd and Huishang Bank Corp Ltd. The Dye & Durham Corporation-Link Administration Holdings Ltd deal and the Amer International Group Co Ltd-Huishang Bank Corp Ltd deal were valued at $2,829.3 million and $2,500.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Alphabet Inc-Bharti Airtel Ltd valued at $700.0 million, whereas the deal between Think and Learn Pvt Ltd-Great Learning valued at $600.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $35,629.3 million and accounted for nearly 38.84% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 55.87% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 30.05% of the total deal size on a global scale.
