  • A total of 656 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by ECommerce, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $28,723.1 million. In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $5,743.0 million, resulting in an average deal value of $97.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 63 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $36.6 million during that month.

  • Of the 656 deals, the deal secured between Abu Dhabi Investment Authority; Temasek Investments, Inc. and GoTo Group - Indonesia, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Asia-Pacific driven by ECommerce, which was valued at $2,000.0 million and was completed on August 19, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Alibaba Group Holding Ltd; Haier Group; Jiangsu Provincial Government; Midea Group Co Ltd; Nanjing State Asset Management Committee; TCL Technology Group Corp; Xiaomi Corp and Suningcom Group Co Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between IMM Private Equity Inc; Lotte Corp and Hanssem Co Ltd. The Alibaba Group Holding Ltd; Haier Group; Jiangsu Provincial Government; Midea Group Co Ltd; Nanjing State Asset Management Committee; TCL Technology Group Corp; Xiaomi Corp-Suningcom Group Co Ltd deal and the IMM Private Equity Inc; Lotte Corp-Hanssem Co Ltd deal were valued at $1,360.0 million and $1,240.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between ARK Impact Asset Management Inc.; Axis Growth Avenues AIF- I; Baron Capital Group, Inc.; Falcon Edge Capital, LP; Ghisallo Partners LP; IIFL AMC Late Stage Tech Fund; Invesco Ltd; Kotak; Prosus Ventures; Qatar Investment Authority; Segantii Capital Management Limited; Sixteenth Street Capital Pte. Ltd.; Smile Group; Sumeru Venture Partners-Bundl Technologies Private Ltd valued at $700.0 million, whereas the deal between Alibaba Group Holding Ltd; B Capital Group; Geopost; Monk Hill Ventures; Zamrud Sovereign Wealth Fund-Ninja Logistics Pte Ltd valued at $578.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.

  • Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $5,878.0 million and accounted for nearly 20.46% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 31.52% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and accounted for 34.91% of the total deal size on a global scale.
