In the LTM period, August 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $46,507.4 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,409.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 47 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $472.9 million during that month.
Of the 385 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Australia, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between APA Group and AusNet Services Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan and Greencross Ltd. The APA Group-AusNet Services Ltd deal and the AustralianSuper Pty Ltd; Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan-Greencross Ltd deal were valued at $11,080.9 million and $3,500.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Dye & Durham Corporation-Link Administration Holdings Ltd valued at $2,829.3 million, whereas the deal between Australia Tower Network Pty Ltd-Axicom Pty Ltd valued at $2,681.3 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $49,091.6 million and accounted for nearly 43.69% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
