A total of 202 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in Brazil, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $25,604.8 million. In the LTM period, October 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $3,514.0 million, resulting in an average deal value of $167.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of December 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 21 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $50.0 million during that month.
Of the 202 deals, the deal secured between Rede D'Or Sao Luiz SA and Sul America SA, was the largest M&A deal in the Brazil, which was valued at $2,600.0 million and was completed on February 23, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Indorama Ventures PCL and Oxiteno SA Industria E Comercio, while the third-largest deal was between Equatorial Energia SA and Echoenergia Participacoes SA. The Indorama Ventures PCL-Oxiteno SA Industria E Comercio deal and the Equatorial Energia SA-Echoenergia Participacoes SA deal were valued at $1,300.0 million and $1,178.3 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Companhia Siderurgica Nacional-LafargeHolcim (Brasil) SA valued at $1,025.0 million, whereas the deal between Sibanye Stillwater Ltd-Atlantic Nickel Mining Ltda; Mineracao Vale Verde Ltda valued at $1,000.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $7,103.3 million and accounted for nearly 27.74% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
