The population of the world has more than doubled between 1959 and the 2000s. The annual rate of population increase reached its high in the late 1960s. The pace of increase has nearly halved since then, and it is anticipated that it will continue to decrease globally in the coming years. 

Brazil Population Distribution 

The population of Brazil reached 213.3 million in 2021. Brazil had the largest population group with 69.9% (149.1 million) of the population falling into the working-age group of 15-64 years. Below 15 years, was the second-largest population group in Brazil with 20.3% (43.2 million) of the population. 65 years and above was the third largest population group with 9.8% (21 million) of the total population in 2021. 

The working population in Brazil is exhibiting a positive trend compared to previous years. According to Global Data estimates, Brazil’s total working-age population was around 113 million in 2000, which was 65.1% of the total population. However, over the years, it has grown significantly: the total working-age population as a percentage of the total population was 69.7% (147.5 million), as of 2020. It is expected to contribute to a high share of the total population over the next decade, according to Global Data.
