In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $13,759.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $474.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 44 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $93.5 million during that month.
Of the 414 deals, the deal secured between Gold Fields Ltd and Yamana Gold Inc, was the largest M&A deal in the Canada, which was valued at $6,700.0 million and was completed on May 31, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Iris Acquisition II LP and Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust, while the third-largest deal was between Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. and WPT Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust. The Iris Acquisition II LP-Cominar Real Estate Investment Trust deal and the Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc.-WPT Industrial Real Estate Investment Trust deal were valued at $4,600.0 million and $3,100.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Newcrest Mining Ltd-Pretium Resources Inc valued at $2,857.4 million, whereas the deal between Pfizer Inc-Trillium Therapeutics Inc valued at $2,260.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $19,517.4 million and accounted for nearly 27.16% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
