Inflation-adjusted base year prices are used to calculate real GDP. Real GDP changes serve as a gauge of economic growth and show whether the economic activity has increased or decreased. According to real GDP, the world's top five economies are the US, China, Japan, Germany, and India. After the US, China had the largest real GDP in 2021 with a value of $12.7 trillion. With a $6 trillion real GDP during the same period, Japan came in third place internationally. Germany and India are the other two largest economies, with real GDP of $3.8 trillion and $2.9 trillion, respectively. 

France Exports: Overview 

According to IMF, the volume of imports of goods and services declined by 12.2% in 2020, however, expanded by 7.8% in 2021, due to the removal of cross-border and domestic travel restrictions. 

Overall commodity exports increased by 19.8% in 2021, compared to the previous year. The increase in the value of exports was broad-based as all the major commodities experienced a rise in total export value in 2021. 

Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery, and mechanical appliances accounted for 10.7% of overall exports. In 2021, the total value of the export of nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery, and mechanical appliances stood at $62.9 billion as compared to $54.8 billion in 2020. Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock (8.7%) and electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof (7.7%) were the second and third highest exported commodities of France in 2021. France was one of the leading exporters of nuclear reactors, boilers; parts thereof, and the country ranked ninth in the world with a 2.9% share of the world’s total exports in 2021. 

Germany, Belgium, and Italy were the top three trading partners for France. They accounted for 33.0% of the total trade (exports and imports) in 2021.
