In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $12,022.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $924.8 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of May 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 18 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $229.9 million during that month.
Of the 146 deals, the deal secured between MKS Instruments Inc and Atotech Deutschland GmbH, was the largest M&A deal in the Germany, which was valued at $6,500.0 million and was completed on July 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Faurecia SA and HELLA GmbH & Co KGaA, while the third-largest deal was between Sika AG and Master Builders Solutions Deutschland GmbH. The Faurecia SA-HELLA GmbH & Co KGaA deal and the Sika AG-Master Builders Solutions Deutschland GmbH deal were valued at $6,235.5 million and $6,003.2 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between PTTGC International (Netherlands) B.V.-Allnex Germany GmbH valued at $4,750.0 million, whereas the deal between Hercules BidCo GmbH-Deutsche EuroShop AG valued at $3,058.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $26,547.2 million and accounted for nearly 49.69% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
