In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $69,555.1 million, resulting in an average deal value of $5,796.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of August 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 18 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $1,926.9 million during that month.
Of the 142 deals, the deal secured between Oracle Corp and Cerner Corp, was the world's largest M&A deal driven by Big Data, which was valued at $29,600.0 million and was completed on December 16, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Intercontinental Exchange Inc and Black Knight Inc. The Block Inc-Afterpay Ltd deal and the Intercontinental Exchange Inc-Black Knight Inc deal were valued at $29,000.0 million and $16,000.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between American Tower Corp-CoreSite Realty Corp valued at $10,100.0 million, whereas the deal between Altice UK Sarl-BT Group Plc valued at $3,111.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $87,811.6 million and accounted for nearly 47.40% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. By region, Asia-Pacific accounted for 48.33% of the total M&A deals done globally, and recorded a total deal value of $89,672.1 million, which accounted for 32.64% of the total deal size on a global scale.
