With 13,454 5G related patents published between 2002 and 2022, Samsung Group holds the most number of 5G patents across the world, of which 97.3% was contributed by its subsidiary Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.
The second largest number of 5G related patents were published by Intel Corp with 5,381 patents. The third largest number5G related patents were published by Qualcomm Inc with 5,350 patents. The fourth largest number of patents were held by Huawei Investment & Holding Co Ltd with 2,681 patents, of which 97.2% was contributed by its subsidiary Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. The fifth largest number 5G related patents were published by LG Corp with 2,630 patents, of which 93.3% was contributed by its subsidiary LG Electronics Inc.
The top five patent holders, i.e., Samsung Group, Intel Corp, Qualcomm Inc, Huawei Investment & Holding Co Ltd, and LG Corp, together held 29,496 5G patents during the period.
