With 9,388 Fintech related patents published between 2002 and 2022, SoftBank Group Corp holds the most number of Fintech patents across the world, of which 83.9% was contributed by its subsidiary Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.
The second largest number of Fintech related patents were published by Visa Inc with 9,300 patents, of which 69.9% was contributed by its subsidiary Visa International Service Association. The third largest numberFintech related patents were published by Mastercard Inc with 8,845 patents, of which 89.7% was contributed by its subsidiary MasterCard International Incorporated. The fourth largest number of patents were held by International Business Machines Corp with 6,939 patents. The fifth largest number Fintech related patents were published by Toshiba Corp with 5,139 patents, of which 62.7% was contributed by its subsidiary Toshiba TEC Corp.
The top five patent holders, i.e., SoftBank Group Corp, Visa Inc, Mastercard Inc, International Business Machines Corp, and Toshiba Corp, together held 39,611 Fintech patents during the period.
