The indicator household consumption expenditure on recreation refers to spending on recreational activities and facilities like sports, theatre, movies, live entertainment, amusement park, museums, etc, and expenses on food and accommodation services in hotels and restaurants.

Recreational spending by consumers is closely linked to consumer spending and per capita disposable income. Spending on recreation is anticipated to rise in the coming years as both of these indicators have exponentially grown in the last decade. Recreational spending is also linked to leisure time. Consumers are increasingly inclined to spend money on recreation when leisure time increases.
