A total of 132 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in Italy, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $21,495.1 million. In the LTM period, December 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $7,260.5 million, resulting in an average deal value of $484.0 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 16 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $42.9 million during that month.
Of the 132 deals, the deal secured between Crocs Inc and Fratelli Diversi S.r.l, was the largest M&A deal in the Italy, which was valued at $2,500.0 million and was completed on December 23, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Flutter Entertainment plc and Sisal Group S.p.A., while the third-largest deal was between BPER Banca Spa and Banca Carige SpA. The Flutter Entertainment plc-Sisal Group S.p.A. deal and the BPER Banca Spa-Banca Carige SpA deal were valued at $2,161.7 million and $1,279.8 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Credit Agricole Assurances SA-Edison Renewables LLC valued at $1,109.3 million, whereas the deal between Banca 5 S.p.A.; Enel X Srl-Mooney S.p.A. valued at $1,095.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $8,146.3 million and accounted for nearly 37.90% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
