In the LTM period, June 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $634.6 million, resulting in an average deal value of $90.7 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 10 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $6.2 million during that month.
Of the 70 deals, the deal secured between Chimera Investment LLC; Mastercard Inc; Qatar Holding LLC; The Rise Fund and Airtel Money Kenya Limited, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Kenya, which was valued at $543.8 million and was completed on June 10, 2022. The second-largest deal was between ARCH Emerging Markets Partners; Beyond NetZero; M&G Investments and Sun King, while the third-largest deal was between 4DX Ventures; Avenir Growth Capital; Binny Bansal; Jam Fund; Quona Capital Management, Ltd.; Sujeet Kumar; Tiger Global Management LLC; VNV Global AB and Sokowatch Inc.. The ARCH Emerging Markets Partners; Beyond NetZero; M&G Investments-Sun King deal and the 4DX Ventures; Avenir Growth Capital; Binny Bansal; Jam Fund; Quona Capital Management, Ltd.; Sujeet Kumar; Tiger Global Management LLC; VNV Global AB-Sokowatch Inc. deal were valued at $260.0 million and $125.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between IFC Financial Institutions Growth Fund, LP; International Finance Corp-Equity Group Holdings valued at $107.4 million, whereas the deal between Agence Francaise de Developpement Group; Proparco SA; STOA SA; Swedfund International AB-Serengeti Energy Ltd valued at $80.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $1,116.1 million and accounted for nearly 69.87% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
