In the LTM period, July 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $16,005.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $1,000.4 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of October 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 18 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $341.2 million during that month.
Of the 132 deals, the deal secured between International Monetary Fund and Democratic Republic of the Congo, was the largest Debt Offering deal in the Middle East and Africa region, which was valued at $1,520.0 million and was completed on July 15, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank; Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank; Ahli United Bank; Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait; Arab Banking Corp (BSc); Emirates NBD Bank; First Abu Dhabi Bank; Intesa Sanpaolo SpA; Mashreqbank PSC; National Bank of Kuwait and Government Of Egypt, while the third-largest deal was between First Abu Dhabi Bank; HSBC Bank Plc and Etihad Airways PJSC. The Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank; Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank; Ahli United Bank; Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait; Arab Banking Corp (BSc); Emirates NBD Bank; First Abu Dhabi Bank; Intesa Sanpaolo SpA; Mashreqbank PSC; National Bank of Kuwait-Government Of Egypt deal and the First Abu Dhabi Bank; HSBC Bank Plc-Etihad Airways PJSC deal were valued at $1,500.0 million and $1,200.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between International Monetary Fund-The Republic of Cameroon valued at $689.5 million, whereas the deal between Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank; Bank of America Corp; Bank of China Ltd; Bank of Taiwan; BNP Paribas SA; Canara Bank; China Construction Bank Corp; Citibank NA; Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft, Pobocka Praha; Credit Europe Bank NV; HSBC Bank Plc; Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd; J.P. Morgan Securities Plc; Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets PLC; Mizuho Corporate Bank Ltd (Inactive); MUFG Bank Ltd; SMBC Bank EU AG; Standard Chartered Bank AG; State Bank of India; The Export-Import Bank of China; The Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China; The National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah (RAKBANK)-Investec Bank Ltd valued at $600.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $5,509.5 million and accounted for nearly 10.12% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Middle East and Africa region accounted for 2.86% of the total Debt Offering deals done globally, and accounted for 2.25% of the total deal size on a global scale.
