The third largest number of Shale related patents were published by Xyleco, Inc. with 25 patents. The fourth largest number of Shale related patents were published by Schlumberger Ltd with 22 patents, of which 90.9% was contributed by its subsidiary Schlumberger Technology BV. The fifth largest number of Shale related patents were published by Baker Hughes Co with 22 patents, of which 81.8% was contributed by its subsidiary Baker Hughes Srl.
The top five patent holders, i.e., Shell plc, Halliburton Co, Xyleco, Inc., Schlumberger Ltd, and Baker Hughes Co, together held 197 Shale patents during the period.
