A total of 81 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in New Zealand, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $3,616.1 million. In the LTM period, April 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $1,370.4 million, resulting in an average deal value of $228.4 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of March 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 10 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $47.1 million during that month.
Of the 81 deals, the deal secured between First Sentier Investors Holdings Pty Ltd and Waste Management N.Z. Limited, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the New Zealand, which was valued at $1,319.3 million and was completed on April 1, 2022. The second-largest deal was between FountainVest Partners and Ziwi Pets, while the third-largest deal was between Allegro Funds Pty Ltd. and Gull New Zealand Ltd. The FountainVest Partners-Ziwi Pets deal and the Allegro Funds Pty Ltd.-Gull New Zealand Ltd deal were valued at $1,054.5 million and $389.3 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Fady Mishriki; Guy Haddleton; Jarden Limited; Rod Drury; Sam Morgan; Stephen Tindall-Lodestone Energy valued at $195.1 million, whereas the deal between Silver Lake Management LLC-New Zealand Rugby valued at $132.5 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $3,090.8 million and accounted for nearly 85.47% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
