In the LTM period, January 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $89,895.3 million, resulting in an average deal value of $5,618.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 24 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $543.8 million during that month.
Of the 130 deals, the deal secured between Microsoft Corp and Activision Blizzard Inc, was the largest M&A deal in the North America driven by Digital Media, which was valued at $68,700.0 million and was completed on January 18, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Take-Two Interactive Software Inc and Zynga Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Entegris Inc and CMC Materials Inc. The Take-Two Interactive Software Inc-Zynga Inc deal and the Entegris Inc-CMC Materials Inc deal were valued at $12,700.0 million and $5,700.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Pershing Square Tontine Holdings Ltd-Universal Music Group Inc valued at $4,000.0 million, whereas the deal between Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC-Bungie Inc valued at $3,600.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $94,700.0 million and accounted for nearly 64.45% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The North America region accounted for 76.32% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 39.04% of the total deal size on a global scale.
