Qatar is the world’s top Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exporter. With the growing supply disruption from Russia, Qatar is making strategies to boost its LNG output and has launched North Field East project, to meet the growing demand for LNG from European Countries. The new expansion project which is expected to increase Qatar's LNG production capacity from 77 million tonnes per annum in 2022 (Mtpa) to 110Mtpa by 2025.
Long-Term Supply Agreement Between QatarEnergy and China’s Sinopec
QatarEnergy entered into a long-term agreement with China’s Sinopec to supply 4 million tonnes of LNG for 27 years to Sinopec of China. The new 27-year long-term contract between QatarEnergy and Sinopec demonstrates that recent market volatility and supply disruptions have made buyers realize the importance of long-term contracts. Additionally, QatarEnergy is negotiating with other Chinese and European buyers who are interested in long-term supply deals.
