The number of active job postings in South Africa decreased by 3.16% MoM, and decreased by 16.67% since October 2023, reaching 7,315 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 4,196 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing an increase of 27.31% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 4,435 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 0.64% more jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 21.7% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 20.21%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 7.83%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 5.9% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 7.25%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 4,479, number of jobs closed stood at 4,894 and number of active jobs stood at 8,078.
