A total of 93 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in Spain, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $27,396.2 million. In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $5,686.4 million, resulting in an average deal value of $631.8 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 11 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $186.0 million during that month.
Of the 93 deals, the deal secured between Siemens Energy AG and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA, was the largest M&A deal in the Spain, which was valued at $4,263.3 million and was completed on May 21, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Opal Spanish Holdings SA and Zardoya Otis SA, while the third-largest deal was between Credit Agricole Assurances SA; Engie SA and Eolia Renovables de Inversiones SCR SA. The Opal Spanish Holdings SA-Zardoya Otis SA deal and the Credit Agricole Assurances SA; Engie SA-Eolia Renovables de Inversiones SCR SA deal were valued at $2,341.1 million and $2,300.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria Colombia SA-Tree Inversiones Inmobiliarias, SOCIMI, S.A.U. valued at $2,211.7 million, whereas the deal between Sandfire Resources Ltd-Minas de Aguas Tenidas SAU valued at $1,865.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $12,981.1 million and accounted for nearly 47.38% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months.
