Ouenza Mine in Tebessa, was the largest surface mine in Algeria, producing approximately 1.62 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Ouenza Mine is owned by Liberty House Group;Sider;Ferphos Group. The second largest surface mine with an estimated 0.24 mmtpa of ROM, was the Djebel Onk Mine located in Tebessa. The Djebel Onk Mine is owned by Ferphos Group.
Anini Mine located in Setif was the third-largest mine, the Rouina Mine located in Ain Defla was the fourth-largest mine, and the Khanguet Mine located in Tebessa was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 0.16 mmtpa, 0.12 mmtpa and 0.09 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Anini Mine is owned by Ferphos Group, the Rouina Mine is owned by Ferphos Group and the Khanguet Mine is owned by Ferphos Group.
The five largest surface mines, i.e., Ouenza Mine, Djebel Onk Mine, Anini Mine, Rouina Mine, and Khanguet Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 2.23 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
