Kajaran Mine in Syunik, was the largest mine in Armenia, producing approximately 60.37 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced copper (163.01 thousand tonnes) in 2021. The Kajaran Mine is owned by Zangezur Mining LLC;Armenian Molybdenum Production LLC;CRONIMET Mining AG;Plant of Pure Iron OJSC. The second largest mine with approximately 3.3 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing copper (18.66 thousand tonnes), was the Teghut Copper and Molybdenum Mine located in Lori. The Teghut Copper and Molybdenum Mine is owned by Vallex Group.
Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Mine located in Syunik was the third-largest mine, the Zod Mine located in Aragatsotn was the fourth-largest mine, and the Kapan Mine located in Syunik was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 3 mmtpa, 0.79 mmtpa and 0.67 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. Primarily, the Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Mine produced approximately 27 thousand tonnes of zircon, the Zod Mine produced approximately 100 thousand ounces of gold and the Kapan Mine produced approximately 6 thousand tonnes of zinc in the year 2021. The Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Mine is owned by GeoProMining, Ltd. which is due to operate until 2035, the Zod Mine is owned by GeoProMining, Ltd. which is due to operate until 2040 and the Kapan Mine is owned by Chaarat Gold Holdings Ltd which is due to operate until 2032.
