A total of 201 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Mining of the Asia-Pacific region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $41,504.3 million. In the LTM period, November 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $21,913.5 million, resulting in an average deal value of $876.5 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 25 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $876.5 million during that month.
Of the 201 deals, the deal secured between Beijing Hualian Hypermarket Co., Ltd. and Shandong innovation metal technology co., ltd., was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Mining sector, which was valued at $1,887.5 million and was completed on August 6, 2021. The second-largest deal was between China Fangda Group Co Ltd and Anyang Iron & Steel Group Co.,Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Tata Steel Long Products Ltd and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd. The China Fangda Group Co Ltd-Anyang Iron & Steel Group Co.,Ltd deal and the Tata Steel Long Products Ltd-Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd deal were valued at $1,730.0 million and $1,609.3 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between China Aluminum New Materials Co Ltd-China Aluminum Zhongzhou Aluminum Co Ltd; Chinalco Shandong Co Ltd valued at $1,566.5 million, whereas the deal between HOCHTIEF Australia Holdings Limited-CIMIC Group Ltd valued at $1,052.6 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $7,845.9 million and accounted for nearly 18.90% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 39.77% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 3.75% of the total deal size on a global scale.
