Mount Isa Zinc Mine in Queensland, was the largest zinc-producing mine in Australia, producing approximately 329.8 thousand tonnes of zinc and an estimated 8.1 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Mount Isa Zinc Mine is owned by Glencore Plc, and is due to operate until 2029. The second largest zinc-producing mine with an estimated zinc production of 279.6 thousand tonnes and an estimated 3.9 mmtpa of ROM, was the McArthur River Mine (Zinc) located in Queensland. The McArthur River Mine (Zinc) is owned by Glencore Plc, and is due to operate until 2038.
