Global manganese mining in China

Global manganese reserves held a significant position with South Africa, Ukraine, Australia, India, and Brazil holding majority of the global total. The remainder was accounted for by countries including China, Gabon, Ghana, and Kazakhstan. The Northern Cape, North West, and Gauteng provinces of South Africa, the Nikopol Basin of Ukraine, and Western Australia and the Northern Territory of Australia are among the largest sources of manganese globally.

Global manganese reserves

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), global manganese metal reserves held a significant position. Most of the manganese reserves are located in South Africa, which accounted for majority of the global total, followed by Ukraine, Australia, India, and Brazil. China, Gabon, and Ghana, while the remainder was distributed among other countries, including Kazakhstan.

Global manganese consumption

Global manganese ore consumption experienced a down over its preceding year, as a result of a decline in the global steel demand. As a result, global steel production, where manganese and manganese alloys largely find their applications, fell by a significant share in the same year. Although steel production in India increased and it could not offset a slight drop in China, the European Union and Japan.

Historically, during the review period, global manganese ore consumption increased over the period. This was mainly due to the increasing demand for steel from China, India, and South Korea.
