The second largest surface mine with an estimated 9.47 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing copper (83.56 thousand tonnes), was the Frontier Mine located in Katanga. The Frontier Mine is owned by Eurasian Resources Group Sarl;Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, Democratic Republic of Congo, and is due to operate until 2025.
