Kenticha Project in Oromiya, was the largest mine in Ethiopia, producing approximately 1.28 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced niobium (3.11 thousand ounces) in 2021. The Kenticha Project is owned by Elenilto Minerals & Mining LLC. The second largest mine with approximately 0.76 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing gold (168.28 thousand ounces), was the Legadembi Mine located in Oromiya. The Legadembi Mine is owned by Midroc Ethiopia Plc.
Legadembi Gold Mine located in Adis Abeba Astedader was the third-largest mine, the Sakaro Mine located in Oromiya was the fourth-largest mine, and the Delbi Coal Mining located in Oromiya was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 0.69 mmtpa, 0.1 mmtpa and 0.04 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Legadembi Gold Mine is owned by Government of Saudi Arabia;Midroc Ethiopia Plc which is due to operate until 2026, the Sakaro Mine is owned by Government of Saudi Arabia;Midroc Ethiopia Plc and the Delbi Coal Mining is owned by May Flower Mining Enterprise, Ltd.;Delbi Coal Mining PLC.
