Israel: Five Largest Mines in 2021

  • Dead Sea Potash Mine in Kinneret, was the largest mine in Israel, producing approximately 10.05 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Dead Sea Potash Mine is owned by Israel Corporation Ltd. The second largest mine with approximately 6.9 mmtpa of ROM, was the Shefeya Mine located in Jerusalem. The Shefeya Mine is owned by Israel Corporation Ltd.

  • Modiim Quarry located in Beersheba was the third-largest mine, the Oron Phosphate Mine located in Beersheba was the fourth-largest mine, and the Rotem Mine located in Beersheba was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 5.16 mmtpa, 2.3 mmtpa and 1.55 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Modiim Quarry is owned by Readymix Industries (Israel) Ltd.;The Housing & Construction Holding Company Limited, the Oron Phosphate Mine is owned by Israel Corporation Ltd which is due to operate until 2024 and the Rotem Mine is owned by Israel Corporation Ltd which is due to operate until 2025.

  • The five largest mines, i.e., Dead Sea Potash Mine, Shefeya Mine, Modiim Quarry, Oron Phosphate Mine, and Rotem Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 25.96 mmtpa of ROM in 2021
