Kumtor Mine in Issyk-Kul, was the largest mine in Kyrgyzstan, producing approximately 7.23 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced gold (583.41 thousand ounces) in 2021. The Kumtor Mine is owned by Centerra Gold Inc, and is due to operate until 2033. The second largest mine with approximately 3.19 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing silver (1,027.71 thousand ounces), was the Jerooy Gold Project located in Talas. The Jerooy Gold Project is owned by Vostok-geoldobycha, JSC, and is due to operate until 2042.
Bozymchak Project located in Jalal-Abad was the third-largest mine, the Talassakaya Mine located in Talas was the fourth-largest mine, and the Taldy-Bulak Levoberezhny Project located in Chuy was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 1.02 mmtpa, 0.89 mmtpa and 0.68 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. Primarily, the Bozymchak Project produced approximately 7 thousand tonnes of copper, the Talassakaya Mine produced approximately 8 thousand tonnes of copper and the Taldy-Bulak Levoberezhny Project produced approximately 152 thousand ounces of gold in the year 2021. The Bozymchak Project is owned by KAZ Minerals PLC which is due to operate until 2033, the Talassakaya Mine is owned by Salim Group and the Taldy-Bulak Levoberezhny Project is owned by Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd;Kyrgyzaltyn which is due to operate until 2039.
