The Lindbergh South Project is owned by Korea National Oil Corp. The second largest mine with an estimated 580.77 mmtpa of ROM , was the Burnt Lake Project located in Alberta, Canada. The Burnt Lake Project is owned by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd, and is due to operate until 2029.
Millennium Oil Sands Project located in Alberta, Canada was the third-largest mine, the Horizon Project located in Alberta, Canada was the fourth-largest mine, and the Morenci Mine located in Arizona, United States was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 260.32 mmtpa, 204.01 mmtpa and 169.45 mmtpa respectively, in 2021. The Millennium Oil Sands Project is owned by Suncor Energy Inc which is due to operate until 2034, the Horizon Project is owned by Canadian Natural Resources Ltd which is due to operate until 2068 and the Morenci Mine is owned by Freeport-McMoRan Inc;Sumitomo Corp;Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd which is due to operate until 2045.
The five largest mines, i.e., Lindbergh South Project, Burnt Lake Project, Millennium Oil Sands Project, Horizon Project, and Morenci Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 1,745.01 mmtpa of ROM in 2021
