Saindak Mine in Balochistan, was the largest mine in Pakistan, producing approximately 3.58 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) and primarily produced copper (12.53 thousand tonnes) in 2021. The Saindak Mine is owned by Saindak Metals Limited;Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd, and is due to operate until 2063. The second largest mine with approximately 2.41 mmtpa of ROM, was the Thar Coalfield Block II Project located in Sindh. The Thar Coalfield Block II Project is owned by Engro Energy Ltd;Government of Sindh, and is due to operate until 2052.
Warcha Salt Mines located in Punjab was the third-largest mine, the Duddar Mine located in Balochistan was the fourth-largest mine, and the AAA Black Granite Quarry located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 0.63 mmtpa, 0.55 mmtpa and 0.44 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Warcha Salt Mines is owned by Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation, the Duddar Mine is owned by Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd which is due to operate until 2025 and the AAA Black Granite Quarry is owned by Indus Mining (pvt) Limited.
