Bogdanka Mine in Lublin, was the largest underground mine in Poland, producing approximately 14.22 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Bogdanka Mine is owned by Enea SA, and is due to operate until 2035. The second largest underground mine with an estimated 12.09 mmtpa of ROM and primarily producing copper (198.4 thousand tonnes), was the Polkowice-Sieroszowice Mine located in Lower Silesian. The Polkowice-Sieroszowice Mine is owned by KGHM Polska Miedz SA, and is due to operate until 2058.
Rudna Mine located in Lower Silesian was the third-largest mine, the Lubin Mine located in Silesian was the fourth-largest mine, and the Borynia-Zofiowka Mine located in Silesian was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 11.87 mmtpa, 7.38 mmtpa and 4.92 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Rudna Mine is owned by KGHM Polska Miedz SA which is due to operate until 2043, the Lubin Mine is owned by KGHM Polska Miedz SA which is due to operate until 2048 and the Borynia-Zofiowka Mine is owned by Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa SA which is due to operate until 2052.
The five largest underground mines, i.e., Bogdanka Mine, Polkowice-Sieroszowice Mine, Rudna Mine, Lubin Mine, and Borynia-Zofiowka Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 50.48 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
