Kef Eschfaier Mine in Gafsa, was the largest mine in Tunisia, producing approximately 4.49 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Kef Eschfaier Mine is owned by Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa. The second largest mine with approximately 2.93 mmtpa of ROM, was the Kef Eddour Mine located in Gafsa. The Kef Eddour Mine is owned by Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa.
Metlaoui Mine located in Gafsa was the third-largest mine, the Jallabia Mine located in Gafsa was the fourth-largest mine, and the Om El Khecheb Project located in Gafsa was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 2.62 mmtpa, 2.54 mmtpa and 1.9 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Metlaoui Mine is owned by Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa, the Jallabia Mine is owned by Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa and the Om El Khecheb Project is owned by Compagnie des Phosphates de Gafsa.
