A total of 61 Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Mining of the Europe region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $16,669.7 million. In the LTM period, April 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $6,538.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $2,179.6 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of July 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 10 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $548.1 million during that month.
Of the 61 deals, the deal secured between AKROPOL GROUP LTD and Polyus, was the largest M&A deal in the Europe Mining sector, which was valued at $6,300.0 million and was completed on April 4, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Sandfire Resources Ltd and Minas de Aguas Tenidas SAU, while the third-largest deal was between The State Group Inc and Orano SA. The Sandfire Resources Ltd-Minas de Aguas Tenidas SAU deal and the The State Group Inc-Orano SA deal were valued at $1,865.0 million and $1,177.4 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Simpson Manufacturing Co Inc-Etanco Group SAS valued at $820.5 million, whereas the deal between SigmaRoc PLC-Nordkalk Oy Ab valued at $590.4 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $10,753.3 million and accounted for nearly 64.51% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Europe region accounted for 15.97% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 3.97% of the total deal size on a global scale.
