Xinjiang–Guangdong–Zhejiang SNG is the Longest Planned Gas Pipeline in APAC by 2026

The Xinjiang–Guangdong–Zhejiang SNG gas pipeline in China is the longest upcoming pipeline project in Asia-pacific during 2022 to 2026 with a proposed length of 8,972 km. Expected to start operations in 2026, the pipeline would help to transport gas from western China to the economic centers in the east.

The Zhongwei–Ji ‘an pipeline, also in China, is the second-longest upcoming pipeline in the region with a length of 2,090 km. The China Oil & Gas Piping Network-operated pipeline is expected to start operations by 2023. It also transports gas from the Zhongwei city in northwest China to the Ji'an city in the east, while providing clean energy to demand centers along the pipeline route.

The third-largest upcoming pipeline in Asia-Pacific is Jagdishpur–Haldia Phase II in India with a total length of 1,900 km. The pipeline, to be operated by GAIL, traverses through the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. The pipeline project aims to connect India's eastern and western regions catering to the needs of domestic and industrial consumers.

The Mehsana–Bhatinda gas pipeline, also in India, stands fourth with a pipeline length of 1,834 km and is expected to start operations by 2023. The pipeline would traverse from the Gujarat state to Punjab state and helps industries such as ceramics and glass, food processing, pharmaceutical, and textiles to become more competitive and generate investment opportunities. New industrial clusters have also been planned along the pipeline route to encourage gas-based industries.

The fifth-longest planned pipeline is Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda in India with a total length of 1,755 km. To be operated by GAIL (India) Ltd, the pipeline would start operations in 2023. The pipeline provides much needed natural gas to the districts in the Vidarbha region of the Maharashtra state. It also aims to supply gas for vehicle use, city gas distribution networks, and industrial consumers.
