In the LTM period, February 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $86,205.2 million, resulting in an average deal value of $28,735.1 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of January 2022 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 4 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $170.8 million during that month.
Of the 32 deals, the deal secured between Shlomi Amir; Yossi Amir and Shufersal Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Middle East and Africa Retail & Wholesale sector, which was valued at $756.4 million and was completed on March 14, 2022. The second-largest deal was between SABIC Agri-Nutrients Co and ETG Inputs Holdco Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between Israel Infrastructure Fund; Leumi Partners Ltd and Paz Oil Co Ltd. The SABIC Agri-Nutrients Co-ETG Inputs Holdco Ltd deal and the Israel Infrastructure Fund; Leumi Partners Ltd-Paz Oil Co Ltd deal were valued at $319.6 million and $306.9 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Pepkor Holdings Ltd-TAPESTRY HOME BRANDS (PTY) LTD valued at $300.0 million, whereas the deal between Saudi Automotive Services Co-Naft Services Company valued at $292.9 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $1,975.8 million and accounted for nearly 2.22% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Middle East and Africa region accounted for 24.88% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 0.18% of the total deal size on a global scale.
