North America: Job Trends in the Retailing Sector (October 2023 - January 2024)

The number of active job postings in the Retailing sector of the North America region decreased by 9.37% MoM, and decreased by 31.41% since October 2023, reaching 381,519 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 132,999 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing an increase of 0.89% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 172,423 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 18.47% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 18.32% and the number of jobs closed increased by 1.35%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 6.52%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 11.81% and the number of jobs closed observed a growth rate of 0.45%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 149,822, number of jobs closed stood at 195,323 and number of active jobs stood at 464,824.
