In the LTM period, May 2022 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $53,025.5 million, resulting in an average deal value of $8,837.6 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of September 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 8 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $370.1 million during that month.
Of the 45 deals, the deal secured between Block Inc and Afterpay Ltd, was the largest M&A deal in the Asia-Pacific Technology, Media and Telecom sector driven by Big Data, which was valued at $29,000.0 million and was completed on August 1, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Dye & Durham Corporation and Link Administration Holdings Ltd, while the third-largest deal was between PayPal Holdings Inc and Paidy Inc. The Dye & Durham Corporation-Link Administration Holdings Ltd deal and the PayPal Holdings Inc-Paidy Inc deal were valued at $2,829.3 million and $2,730.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Omron Corp-JMDC Inc valued at $974.3 million, whereas the deal between Aussie Broadband Pty., Ltd.-Over the Wire Holdings Ltd valued at $266.1 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $35,799.7 million and accounted for nearly 39.93% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Asia-Pacific region accounted for 48.93% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 32.85% of the total deal size on a global scale.
