A total of 946 Private Equity/Venture Financing deals (pending and completed) were announced in the Technology, Media and Telecom of the Middle East and Africa region, in the last twelve months resulting in a total deal value of over $23,468.2 million. In the LTM period, October 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $3,123.3 million, resulting in an average deal value of $48.1 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of November 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 109 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $15.3 million during that month.
Of the 946 deals, the deal secured between Blackstone Inc and VFS Global, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the Middle East and Africa Technology, Media and Telecom sector, which was valued at $1,870.0 million and was completed on October 7, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Brookfield Business Partners LP and Magnati Payment Solutions, while the third-largest deal was between Turn/River Capital and Tufin Software Technologies Ltd. The Brookfield Business Partners LP-Magnati Payment Solutions deal and the Turn/River Capital-Tufin Software Technologies Ltd deal were valued at $690.0 million and $570.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Chimera Investment LLC; Mastercard Inc; Qatar Holding LLC; The Rise Fund-Airtel Money Kenya Limited valued at $543.8 million, whereas the deal between B Riley Financial Inc; Chimera Investments LLC; DisruptAD; Dogus Group; Next Play Capital; NordStar Capital LP; SoftBank Vision Fund 2-Kitopi valued at $415.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $4,088.8 million and accounted for nearly 17.42% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The Middle East and Africa region accounted for 2.65% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and accounted for 0.04% of the total deal size on a global scale.
