In the LTM period, August 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $10,519.7 million, resulting in an average deal value of $150.3 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of June 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 95 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $44.0 million during that month.
Of the 785 deals, the deal secured between Veritas Capital Fund Management, LLC and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Co, was the largest Private Equity/Venture Financing deal in the North America Technology, Media and Telecom sector driven by Digitalization, which was valued at $3,162.5 million and was completed on February 22, 2022. The second-largest deal was between Thoma Bravo LP and Bottomline Technologies Inc, while the third-largest deal was between Kirkbi AS; Sony Group Corp and Epic Games Inc. The Thoma Bravo LP-Bottomline Technologies Inc deal and the Kirkbi AS; Sony Group Corp-Epic Games Inc deal were valued at $2,704.7 million and $2,000.0 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between Advent International Corp; Corner Capital Partners LLC; Oaktree Capital Management LP; Peak6 Investments LP; Silver Lake Partners, L.P.; Upper90-Thras.io Inc valued at $1,000.0 million, whereas the deal between BDT Capital Partners LLC; Davidson Kempner Capital Management LP; MSD Partners LP-Loanpal valued at $800.0 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $9,667.2 million and accounted for nearly 19.13% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The North America region accounted for 53.32% of the total Private Equity/Venture Financing deals done globally, and accounted for 39.73% of the total deal size on a global scale.
