In the LTM period, September 2021 turned out to be the most prolific in terms of deal size, with a total deal value of $4,701.9 million, resulting in an average deal value of $671.7 million during that month. On the other hand, the month of July 2021 was the most prolific in terms of deal volume, recording a total of 10 deals, resulting in an average deal value of $98.1 million during that month.
Of the 79 deals, the deal secured between Millicom International Cellular SA and Comunicaciones Celulares S.A., was the largest M&A deal in the South and Central America Technology, Media and Telecom sector, which was valued at $2,200.0 million and was completed on November 12, 2021. The second-largest deal was between Uber Technologies Inc and Cornershop Global LLC, while the third-largest deal was between Magazine Luiza SA and KaBuM. The Uber Technologies Inc-Cornershop Global LLC deal and the Magazine Luiza SA-KaBuM deal were valued at $1,400.0 million and $526.7 million, respectively. The fourth-largest deal was between SAS Shipping Agencies Services (CY) Ltd-Log-In Logística Intermodal S/A valued at $344.3 million, whereas the deal between B3 SA-Neoway Tecnologia Integrada Assessoria e Negocios SA valued at $324.7 million was the fifth-largest deal.
Cumulatively, the top five deals amounted to $4,795.7 million and accounted for nearly 39.75% of the total deals (by value) announced during the last twelve months. The South and Central America region accounted for 1.38% of the total M&A deals done globally, and accounted for 0.16% of the total deal size on a global scale.
